The latest information about your semester ticket, the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass and upgrading your semester ticket

The discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass for university students will be launched at the beginning of the 2023/24 winter semester: For only €29 per month, students who are studying at a higher education institution in Bavaria will be able to travel on local and regional public transport throughout Germany. Students who are studying in Würzburg, Schweinfurt or Bamberg, who already pay for a regional semester ticket, pay even less: They can upgrade their semester tickets and have the amount paid for them deducted from the €29. The digital subscription can be cancelled on a monthly basis and can be used by students from 1 October onwards.


Important information: You can only buy the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass from the sales partner of the town where you are studying!


Würzburg:

  • Sales partner:
    Students who are studying in Würzburg can buy the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass from the following public transport providers: the WVV and the APG/NVM.
    WVV: You will be able to preorder your upgrade to the “Deutschlandticket Studierende” public transport pass in the new “WVVmobil” app from the beginning of September. You will need your university login to order the upgrade; for registration please use your private e-mail address.     APG/NVM: The NVM sells the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass, which is valid on local and regional public transport throughout Germany, for partners in the Main-Franconia region together with the APG and the Stadtwerke Schweinfurt municipal utilities company. The income from the ticket sales will go to the public transport providers in the Main-Franconia region.   • Upgrading your semester ticket:
    Students who are studying in Würzburg can have the amount paid for their semester tickets deducted on a pro rata basis (1/6 of the solidarity contribution paid for the semester ticket per month) from the price of the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass. Students studying in Würzburg currently pay €84.00 for their semester tickets. The €14.00 they have already paid as their monthly solidarity contribution for the semester ticket will be deducted from the €29.00, which means that they will only have to pay €15.00 per month for the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass.

Bamberg:

  • Sales partner:
    Students who are studying in Bamberg can buy the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass from the VGN public transport provider. Important information: The deadline for ordering the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass is the 25 of the month before the month in which you want the subscription to start, and you will have to order it through the VGN online shop or through the “VGN Fahrplan und Tickets” or the “NürnbergMOBIL” app. More information about the discounted public transport pass can be found at https://​www.​vgn.​de/​erm​aess​igun​gsti​cket-​studi (available in German only).
     
  • Upgrading your semester ticket:
    Students who are studying in Bamberg can have the amount paid for their semester tickets deducted on a pro rata basis (1/6 of the solidarity contribution paid for the semester ticket per month) from the price of the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass. Students studying in Bamberg currently pay €43.80 for their semester tickets. The €7.30 they have already paid as their monthly solidarity contribution for the semester ticket will be deducted from the €29.00, which means that they will only have to pay €21.70 per month for the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass.

Schweinfurt:

  • Sales partner:
    Students who are studying in Schweinfurt can buy the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass from the NVM public transport provider.
    The NVM sells the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass, which is valid on local and regional public transport throughout Germany, for partners in the Main-Franconia region together with the APG and the Stadtwerke Schweinfurt municipal utilities company. The income from the ticket sales will go to the public transport providers in the Main-Franconia region.   • Upgrading your semester ticket:
    Students who are studying in Schweinfurt can have the amount paid for their semester tickets deducted on a pro rata basis (1/6 of the solidarity contribution paid for the semester ticket per month) from the price of the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass. Students studying in Schweinfurt currently pay €39.50 for their semester tickets. The €6.58 they have already paid as their monthly solidarity contribution for the semester ticket will be deducted from the €29.00, which means that they will only have to pay €22.42 per month for the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass.

    Students who are studying in Aschaffenburg can buy the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass from the Stadtwerke Aschaffenburg municipal utilities company.   • Upgrading your semester ticket:
    Since there is no semester ticket for students studying in Aschaffenburg, they will not be able to upgrade it. This means that they will have to pay €29.00 for the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass.
