The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has provided more funds to help students who can demonstrate an acute financial need caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Eligible students can receive financial aid under the Ministry’s interim financial aid (Überbrückungshilfe) programme for the months of November 2020 to March 2021. Award decisions will be made by the competent local Studentenwerk institutions.
Important information: Applications for financial aid under the programme can be submitted as of Friday, 20 November 2020. Applications must be submitted online.
Please submit your application via the www.ueberbrueckungshilfe-studierende.de website.
If you already received financial aid under the programme in the summer of 2020, you can use your old log in details. Be aware, however, that you will need to upload an enrolment certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung, Studienbescheinigung) for the 2020/2021 winter semester!

You can log in to the web portal at www.ueberbrueckungshilfe-studierende.de at any time to check the status of your application.
After an application has been accepted, payments will be arranged for automatically on Monday and Thursday of each week.
